Runners don't run away from their responsibilties.

Runner Runner Chicken Dinner!!

You must have noticed people lay down on their bed/couch all exhausted every single time they enter into the room. Would you consider them lazy? Would you take it that this person is too hardworking? Or are you that person?

This is not the kind that can be defined into the lazy category. It is just that you have too much to do or absolutely to do and you don’t channel your energy properly. This can however be dodged. Want to know how? Well, go on find the secret below.

Running is as simple as putting on socks and shoes and boom, you are ready.

It is quite a simple task however you still need to know a lot of things so that you achieve maximum results. Running is not just an exercise that you will develop, it is a habit that will grow onto you in a short span of time. I still remember how back in 2013 I started running with a tyre tied to my waist with a rope. Yes, you are absolutely correct, I got inspired by the scene in the movie ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’.

Yes, I actually did that.

So now, for the past month, I have started running again. From running 2 kms a day I have reached to running 9 kms a day. Yes, I may run at least half a marathon (21 km) post covid. That’s a sub-goal amongst others.

How would running/jogging help you?

First of all it will help you sleep like a baby. Trust me on this. Yes you will get all tired and sweaty and your muscles would tear but that feeling post running, you will love it.

It will bring a great posture to your body and will help you patella (knee caps) function smooth. However, running is an impact sport which means all your body weight directly puts an impact on your knees while running but with proper care and stretching one can avoid any injury and help knee joints work absolutely fine as well as will give relief to your long term back and joint problems.

Losing fat (not weight) isn’t that difficult. Running would also help you in that. I always say focus on removing excess fat from the body and not to lose your weight, it is a secondary activity which will definitely follow, if you focus on the primary activity i.e. lose fat.

Running helps you focus and channel your thoughts into the right track. Don’t you ever wonder what runners exactly do while running long distances? Think. No, not you. They think. They give their thoughts, ideas a proper channel. Even I do so and it genuinely helps. Please try this out on your next early morning jogging session. I wish it works for you as well.

I helps you maintain your blood glucose levels which means that it could be useful of diabetic patients. Running will also help you improve your average resting heart rate per minute which means the number of times your heart pumps blood in a minute.

The average beats per minute is 70-90 pumps. However a well-trained athlete could bring it down to as much as 40-50 beats per minute. This means that A’s hearts pumps out blood for 40 times a minute and at the same time B’s heart beats for 70 times. This means that A’s heart performs a task in only 40 beats while B takes 70 beats per minute. So the less number of heart beat per minute states more productivity.

Just for your reference, when I first started it was 72bmp and now it has reduced to 60bpm. You can try this out and see for yourselves.

They even say running helps you build confidence. That is true in my case. How? Well, we start achieving these small goals on a daily basis and it starts to motivate us and give this feeling of achievement. It not only boost our confidence but also challenge us to go beyond our capabilities.

I personally find running very convenient. One can literally go out and start running and it is also free of cost ;)

Now, how would you take care of yourself before and after running?

Well, warm up your body by some dynamic movements which will help oyur muscles to get prepared for that long run. After running let your body cool down and hold your muscles after stretching it out the fullest for at least 10-15 seconds. This will help the muscles to go back to the normal shape as after running so much the muscles would slowly contract and therefore we have to stretch them to relax. Take a cold water shower this would help you reduce soreness in muscles. Amidst all of this don’t forget to keep your body hydrated as running would make your body sweat which is water and salt. So keep your body with good water and salt intake.

I hope you get up early tomorrow and go out for a run and from day after tomorrow your body would ask you to get up and take it for a really long run.

Stay fit. Stay motivated.

Run Run Run!!
