How much sugar is too much sugar ?

Sweets, sugars and a cheat day.

I just had this very yummy Kheer/firni (rice-pudding) made by my mom. It was absolutely delicious.

A very good friend of mine asked me how to avoid sweets, sugars and other things that we crave for and then we regret eating them. It is quite normal you see, no one can let go of that that easily. However once you get on the track and you know what exactly is to be eaten at what time and at which quantity my friend you are all set for your goals.

Yes, sugars and sweets are harmful for us but not when consumed in the right quantity. A person who eats may be half a kilo of sweets at one go and a person who eats it accordingly has some difference. Even when both of them consume exact same quantity of the same product (other things remaining constant) but for one that is harmful and for the other not so much.

Myths about Sugars.

  •        One should completely cut of sugar from diet.

No. One simply cannot do that. Moreover our body needs sugar for some essential functions to perform. Like our brains. Duhhhhh!!!!

  •       All sugar are bad sugar.

No. Not all sugar are bad. Sugars that occur naturally in foods or fruits or dairy products are not harmful and neither in large quantities.

Why exactly sugar is bad for your health?

Well, too much of anything is toxic for you. Here are some of the major facts which will tell you why sugar won’t do any good to you.

1.      Obesity will always top this list and if anyone disagrees with you ask him/her to drink a cold sugar based beverage.
2.      Risks of increasing heart related issues.
3.      Increase risk for diabetes.
4.      Researches show acceleration in skin ageing process.

Do not have a cheat day. Have a cheat meal.

Now imagine, you have been working up on your health and fitness for almost 2-3 weeks now.

However we still need to maintain our cheat meals. Cheat day will not only put a hold onto our eating pattern but will also affect the motivation for workout the very next day. One can cheat with the right amount and at the right time. You know what I mean ;)

Therefore,

Cheat Meal >>>>> Cheat Day.

As long as you treat your body well your body will treat you good.

Stay fit. Stay motivated.
